After restoring many PlayStation Network services over the weekend, Sony announced what it will offer customers to make up for the 3+ weeks of downtime and loss of customer data to hackers. Here is what U.S. customers can get:
- Debix AllClear ID Plus identity theft protection. Watch for an activation message to your PSN email of record and redeem the code by June 18.
- PlayStation 3 games (pick two): Dead Nation, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD + Fury
- PSP games (pick two): Killzone Liberation, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers and Pursuit Force
- Movies. Free movie rentals offered for one weekend to be announced after video service is restored.
- PlayStation Plus. 30 days for non-subscribers, and a bonus 60-day extension for existing subscribers. Remember that free PlayStation Plus games are only available while the subscription is active (so you may want to play these first!) though discounted games are yours even after the subscription lapses.
- Qriocity Music Unlimited/Premium members. 30 days + lost time.
- PlayStation Home. 100 free virtual items, Ooblag's Alien Casino, an addition to the Home Mansion personal space and additional free content to be announced.
- Infamous 2 beta will likely be extended and expanded, though details are yet to be announced.
- SOCOM 4 gamers can expect some activities to be announced soon.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Double XP weekend will be rescheduled soon.
- PlayStation Store content publishing will occur several times a week once commerce is restored until the content backlog is cleared. You can expect Under Siege, a Zen Pinball table and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo among other DLC.
Downloadable games will be available for 30 days after the PlayStation Store returns and won't expire like PlayStation Plus freebies...
This is bad news not only to Sony Playstation but also to PS3 fanatics like me. If problem like this continue to happen, many gamers will turn off their PS3 consoles and buy the competition consoles.
