From early previews, I could see Redfall probably wasn't my kind of game. I'm not much for the online squad-based shooter, and that's what it looked like. On the other hand, we didn't care much for Arkane's Deathloop on first play, but we grew to love it and beat it.
Once Redfall launched and the very negative reviews dropped, and I thought I'd give it a whirl just for giggles. I would have tried it sooner, but Forza Horizon 5 forced a 100GB update on me, which ate up a large chunk of our bandwidth for May. Redfall is 85GB to install, and while cloud play is available, I wanted to stream it.
My first thought is that it's ... not terrible. The cutscenes and combat are pretty generic, and it seems simplistic at first glance. I do get lost looking for the firehouse basement but eventually figure it out.
Honestly, that's my biggest complaint so far - make it easy to see where the next mission waypoint is! Well, you can judge what you think of the game, and, of course, learn from my mistakes:
