I delayed playing Starfield in part due to its very large install size conflicting with my Xfinity data cap. This late in the month, I could see I had enought room to spare so I went ahead and installed all 100+ GB and gave it a spin.
Right off the bat, it reminded me of Deep Rock Galactic with its mining dynamic, though not nearly as fun or intuitive. Give me a pickaxe already, or at least some clear directions. Then it morphed into a combat shooter with space pirates. Then I learned how to pilot a ship and shoot more space pirates, this time... in spaaaaace! I realize I've barely scratched the surface, but the game seems reasonably easy to pick up and play.
This will give you an idea of what to expect during character creation and help you avoid some of my pitfalls, like failing to pick up the alien artifact right away, not entering the ship's main hatch, and moving far closer than necessary to loot enemy ship wreckage:
