Sony launched its Welcome Back Program for PlayStation Network users deprived of the service for more than a month. Only active accounts created before April 20 are eligible. As previously reported, PS3 and PSP gamers get a choice of two free games for each platform per account. Here's what is being offered:
- PS3: Dead Nation, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD + Fury
- PSP: Killzone Liberation, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers and Pursuit Force
To claim your games, go to the Welcome Back section of the PlayStation Store. If you encounter errors, be persistent. Select one game and, for best results, download it before returning to select your second game. If you run into problems, check Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List > SCEA Promotion to download your selections.
In addition, you can get a free 30-day subscription to the PlayStation Plus program (existing subscribers are automatically extended 60 days). If you're not already a Plus subscriber, activate the trial membership from the Welcome Back section and then browse for free and discounted games. Free games from the program are only free during the PlayStation Plus membership period, so you may want to play these right away! Discounted items that you purchase remain yours even if you let the membership lapse (which it will do instead of autorenew if you take advantage of this free trial).
The PlayStation Home is also laden with free goodies: 100 mostly apparel and furniture items plus the Dragon’s Lair and Mansion Garage personal spaces. To claim your items, login to PlayStation Home and go to the Central Plaza kiosk. Also, once Ooblag’s Alien Casino launches later in June, playing it will unlock a version of the Ooblag craps-style game for your personal space...
