Microsoft finally copped to what many Xbox 360 early adopters had already guessed: The launch systems (those made before Jan. 1) have a higher than reasonable failure rate. As a result, Microsoft Support's new policy is to cover repairs for these systems that surface the Red Ring of Death in the first year and refund money to those who've already paid to have theirs fixed. We can only hope that they've also finally created a system to transfer Marketplace content ownership to the new boxes when they issue replacements - but don't count on it. Anything you buy will still work on a new console, as long as you're always connected to Xbox Live...
