Here's what was announced at the Microsoft press event at E3:
- A Halo 3-branded Xbox 360 will be released in September (and, yes, it will be green), but there's no price yet or details on whether it will contain the "red ring of death"-resistant cooler chipset also announced this week
- The 360 controller snap-on keyboard (aka Chatpad) will cost $30 when it's released this September (if Microsoft loves September so much, why don't they just marry it?!)
- A multiplayer beta for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is coming soon, so keep an eye on CharlieOscarDelta.com when it recovers from the traffic tonight
- Golden Axe and Sonic the Hedgehog were released on Xbox Live Arcade, along with the Blue Dragon demo and videos for Halo 3, Mass Effect, Too Human, Project Gotham Racing 4 (with motorbikes), and many more now and over the next few days (but the Resident Evil 5 video won't be posted until July 26)
- Mass Effect is due in November
- An Xbox 360 version of the DVD board game Scene It is coming; the $60 pricetag includes four custom controllers (take that, Rock Band!)
- Gears of War and Viva Pinata are being ported to Windows - and Gears has bonus chapters and a map editor
- A new Viva Pinata party game for 360 is due later this year (what do you bet it's September!)
- Disney is offering up some of its movies to the Xbox Live Marketplace including Alice In Wonderland and The Aristocats (don't get too excited; remember, you can only rent the movies)
All in all some good news for the fans, but no stunners. Tomorrow we'll see what Nintendo and Sony have in store...
