If you've been holding off on buying a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, you might want to wait a little longer. Rumors based on apparent leaks indicate that both consoles are getting new low-end configurations for the holidays to accommodate price-conscious consumers. If true, this means you'll see a PS3 with 40GB hard drive, 2 USB ports (not 4), no flash card slot, no backward compatibility and possibly a pack-in Blu-Ray movie for $400-500. Likewise, the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle will replace the now deprecated Core SKU but generously includes a wireless controller, 256MB memory card and 5 Xbox Live Arcade games (Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man and Uno) for the old Core price of $280. (Other high-end Pro and Elite bundles will apparently pack-in Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance at their respective price points.) However, if you do spot a Wii in the wild, you should bag that puppy immediately. Nintendo is expecting more shortages as we get closer to the holidays...
