UPDATE: Activision has denied the list is real, saying instead that it's "wishful thinking" with some known tracks mixed in. This proves that Activision isn't as smart as I'd given them credit for; they really need to leak a real list soon or lose mindshare to Rock Band 2. I've crossed out all of the tracks that aren't based on reality, and left the names of bands who are expected to appear but crossed out their song names.

It looks like Activision finally managed to leak its setlist for Guitar Hero: World Tour. If this rumored list is accurate (UPDATE: it's not - looks like 14 songs and 25 bands have been confirmed or at least convincingly hinted at), there are some interesting things to note:
  • The songs are mostly grouped into thematic sets of three, with two songs and then an encore
  • Guitar battles are back for the guitar tours only, with duels against Ted Nugent, Sting and Zakk Wylde
  • There are untitled drum samples by Travis Barker, Dave Grohl and Chad Smith (not quite the Drum School with Dave Grohl I suggested, but it's a start)
  • There are some other sample songs from Neversoft, which would seem to violate the "no covers" rule they've imposed on themselves: "Cliffs of Dover," "Misirlou," "Walk This Way" and "YYZ"

That's 96 tracks including the samples and battles. A few of those bands are exclusive including Hendrix, The Eagles and Van Halen. The silver lining for Rock Band fans is that Activision is officially supporting Rock Band instruments, at least on the Xbox 360 (no word yet on PS3, PS2 or Wii)...
