The Alienware laptop that I used to run my business and manage my blog for the past year and a half wouldn't come on this morning. After hours of troubleshooting with tech support, it was determined that it wasn't coming back without repair. I had to run out and get a new laptop so I could keep working, and it's taken all day to get things back to maybe 40 percent of normal. Needless to say, posts will be erratic this week though I still expect to have Free Stuff Friday this week...
That really sucks man. Be sure to tell us exactly what the problem was. I am going to get a new PC for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. I was considering splurging on an Alienware. So a second hand experience with their repair department is worth my time.
I feel for ya man - that's just no fun. Hopefully the HDD is ok or you've got recent backups.
Speaking of which, when's the last time I back---------
I was lucky - my backups had been failing for a month, and I fixed it last Friday and got a full backup on Sunday and an incremental on Monday. So I only lost work from 3 a.m. Monday to 1a Tuesday. That said, restoring everything has been a bear. I'm just now getting all of my e-mail accounts working again.
Not sure what is wrong, but Alienware support had me reseating memory and video cards, hard drives etc. Nothing worked - just an endless reboot loop every six seconds. Couldn't even get to the BIOS. They said it could take 2 weeks to repair, so now it will a backup laptop for myself and my wife, and possibly a machine our 5 y.o. can use to play some games and educational software.
