iPhone 4 Apple announced the iPhone 4, due June 24 in 16GB and 32GB configurations for $200-300 with AT&T contract (or $400-500 without contract):

  • High resolution screen
  • Smaller size, though slightly heavier
  • Flash for external camera
  • Front-facing VGA camera for videoconferencing
  • Gyroscope that, when coupled with accelerometer, provides six-axis motion sensing (same as PS3 controller)
  • Metal rim that serves as an antenna to improve reception
  • Bigger battery that promises 7-10 hours life, depending on usage

If you have an existing AT&T contract that is up for renewal in 2010, you'll be eligible for the renewal price now (well, when pre-orders open on June 15). The other big news is that iPhone OS 4.0 is due June 21 for free download, even if you have an iPod Touch. Previously, iPod users had to pay for OS upgrades...

I have been admiring these phones for a while. But with my phone staying in my car while at work I cannot bring myself to get one. That, and I like not having a contract, and my siblings are piggy backing off my plan.
