News Flash - Rock Band 3 uses real keyboard and guitar for new Pro mode, includes 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'Sister Christian'

Apparently, Harmonix wanted to squash that rumor that suggested Rock Band 3 would feature a hobbled mini-piano controller. They revealed that the game, due in late 2010, will use a 25-key MIDI keyboard (which actually can be strapped on as a keytar if you like) as well as a real full-sized Fender guitar that can be used both with simplified game modes (so you can play the usual 5-note streams as a band just for fun) and a new Pro mode with real notes that's designed to help players learn the moves needed to migrate to a real instrument. Coupled with already realistic drumming and vocal experiences, this could make Rock Band the most authentic gaming music platform:

 

Prices for these new instruments aren't known yet, but your existing controllers and Rock Band music library will still work with the game, just not the new mode (we presume). In addition, some of the Rock Band 3 song list has been revealed:

UPDATE (June 10): Prices have been revealed for instruments. A wireless keytar is $80, or $130 bundled with the Rock Band 3 game. The new Pro Fender guitar is $150. The Pro cymbal expansion for drums is $40, and a MIDI adapter for the keyboard is an extra $40. So if you really want to go all out with your band for Rock Band 3, you're looking at $280 to about $500 depending on how many of the fancy guitars you need.
