First Look - Game Center for iPhone

Game Center for iPhone Apple finally launched Game Center, its iPhone/iPod Touch feature with friends lists, leaderboards and achievements. To get it, you need an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 2nd generation or greater - iPads and iPhone 3Gs need not apply at this time (though the iPhone 3G does get a lomg overdue speed boost with iOS 4.1 so you'll still want to install the update!).

Only a handful of games support Game Center - notably, Enigmo 2, Farmville, Field Runners, Flight Control, Ms. Pac-Man, Nanosaur 2, Real Racing and Zen Bound 2 - though more are on the way. You can find Game Center-enabled games by clicking "Find Game Center Games" in the Games section of the new app you'll use to sign up and access Friends lists.

Speaking of signing up, you'll want to do so as soon as possible to nab your preferred nickname. You can create more than one nickname per device, but you'll need to sign out completely and supply a different e-mail address. Friends lists can reportedly reach 200+ names, but there's no way to sort them - they appear in the order they are accepted...
