If there's a sandbox action title you haven't played, odds are The Saboteur is the one. And that's a shame, because it's actually a pretty great game. Set in Paris during World War II, you play an Irish munitions expert who helps out La Resistance by... blowing a lot of stuff up. And hanging out in brothels. But mostly blowing stuff up.
The game uses color in an interesting way. Like the movie Pleasantville, it starts out black-and-white as you're in Nazi-controlled sections of town, but color seeps in as you start to take it back. The '40s setting and music may remind you a little of L.A. Noire, minus the interrogations and with a lot more, yeah, you guessed it, blowing stuff up.
