Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!, the paid version of a freeware hit, is a visual novel that promises some heavy dark twists - just check out all of the warnings when you start!
So far there are only hints of what is to come. My son actually recommended this (he played the freeware edition) and I like games that genre bend, so I had to give it a try. It's mostly dialogue and the occasional poem generation (selecting words that may affect each girl in the club differently).
I cut the feed after 40 minutes but I think I'm close to something happening:
