Back when we published MacDoom Review, we had the opportunity to beta test MacHexen so I've been looking forward to giving this remastered collection of Heretic + Hexen a spin. Alas, my skills and memories have atrophied as I had no idea what I was doing (more so on Hexen than Heretic, which I've never played but is more of a reskinned Doom). Towards the end I started to get the hang of things.
One word of advice: Brightness. Three more words: Turn it up. Games be dark. I also toured a little of the new 2025 content co-developed by Nightdive and id Software:
