Microsoft revealed some interesting stats for its Xbox Live Arcade service. To date, some 3 million games have been downloaded, with an average demo to sale conversion of 20 percent - quite high for casual games. The top sellers are:
Geometry Wars has the highest sales with a conversion rate of 39 percent, not surprising considering its buzz at launch and $5 pricetag... In what may prove to be related news, Microsoft's Rare studio is withholding the second-party titles it developed for the Nintendo 64 (notably Banjo-Kazooie, Blast Corps, Goldeneye 007, Jet Force Gemini and Killer Instinct) from the Nintendo Revolution downloadable game service. Could some of these classics make their way to Xbox Live Arcade or a Rare retail compendium for the 360? We can only hope... Speaking of U.K. game studio acquisitions, rumor has it that Microsoft is working on a similar bid for Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios, developers of Black & White, Fable and The Movies...
