Last year, major game chains EB and Gamestop started taking pre-orders for the Xbox 360 right after E3. As a result, even people who ordered as early as June or July failed to secure a console at the November launch or, in many cases, for several weeks after. No doubt hoping to head off this kind of fiasco with the PlayStation 3, EB and Gamestop are reportedly delaying in-store preorders until October. They are, however, taking names and numbers to alert you when pre-ordering is announced - assuming you still want one after the news about price...
