April Fool's Round-up - P1mp My Mount, Ostrich Hammers, Portal shirts and price increases (real and imagined)

Wii Fit joke Here's what this April Fool's Day fans delivered gamers this year:

  • If you booted your Wii Fit today and your console's date was set correctly, it reported that your balance board wasn't working before announcing it was "just kidding" and may have lied about your test results (best to re-test tomorrow just in case)
  • Wii Height was announced which, apparently, is designed to help you become taller (the site is in Japanese but it has some convincing illustrations)
  • Blizzard launched P1mp My Mount and a new PVP Dance Battle System for World of Warcraft, a new Diablo III character called The Archivist who wields the dreaded "Shush" attack and may ask for help locating his pants, and the StarCraft 2 Terra-Tron, a giant base that turns into a robot
  • Bethesda Softworks announced some very real price adjustments to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Xbox Live Marketplace downloadable content: everything is half price except for the already overpriced and ornamental horse armor, which is now twice as overpriced at $5
  • Valve announces Hellrazer: Triple Helix, a first-person shooter with a unique motion-sensing and gesture-recognizing controller called the Anaconda and starring CEO Gabe Newell
  • Red Faction: Guerrilla released a video claiming they would accept a fan suggestion to introduce a weapon called the Ostrich Hammer - and it's freakin' cool
  • Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima released a video related to the series, but I couldn't get it to load (supposedly worth watching if you're into the series)
  • Killzone 2 supposedly offered an unlock code to play as Visari and Radec in multiplayer, but it was a hoax (and a painful series of carefully timed button presses if you believed!)
  • Microsoft announced Alpine Legend, a music game with a tri-horn
  • Gamestop tried to convince us to preorder My Wii Buddy, a ventriloquism game
  • Cheap Ass Gamer reported on both a PS3 price increase back to $500 and $600 and Microsoft solving the defective Xbox 360 issue by disabling error messages and the red ring of death
  • Gamespot reported that Resident Evil's Umbrella Corporation joined the ranks of companies requesting government bailout
  • Thinkgeek offered an almost convincing video to persuade you that $200 would net you a pair of Portal-inspired t-shirts with video cameras and screens designed to simulate the game on your chest (they also have a cool Star Wars Tauntaun sleeping bag that would DEFINITELY sell if anyone manufactured it)
  • In Japan, a blog supposedly convinced some 2000 gamers to stand in line for an unexpectedly early midnight release of Dragon Quest IX, but the report and images were faked
  • Splash Damage announced Tapir Wars: Welcome to the Jungle, complete with Microsoft-styled "Games for Tapirs" branding on the game box
  • Oh, and some site announced Wii Boot Camp
