Before you can get to the PlayStation Store on the PS3, you'll have to accept the v2.70 firmware update which adds:
- Text chat with up to 15 friends during games
- Support for backup of PlayStation Store video purchases to an external hard drive (videos still need to be played back on your PS3, and no word if they'll still work if your console is replaced), plus PSP videos can be transferred for play on PS3
- Friends sorted by status
- Increased message file attachments (up to 3MB)
- Internet browser copy and paste (take that, iPhone!) and the ability to quickly search on games you own
- A dynamic normalizer to prevent huge swings in volume level between music tracks
