New Xbox 360 Dashboard coming this fallThere's no way Microsoft could outshine last year's Kinect debut at E3, but this year's briefing did have a few surprises:

  • Xbox 360 Dashboard - Fall update will expand voice control, add YouTube and live TV (news, sports, local channels), UFC and Bing for voice console searches including content on Netflix, Hulu Plus, Marketplace and TV. New interface borrows from Windows Phone 7. UPDATE: After the press conference, Microsoft revealed two more forthcoming features, no doubt Gold member exclusives. Xbox 360 games will soon be able to save to the cloud along with your full profile, so progress can be picked up on any connected console. Also, "Beacons" will alert friends on Xbox Live and Facebook about games you're interested in playing with them, even if you're doing something else like watching a movie.
  • Halo 4 - The start of a "new trilogy" from 343 Industries, which has taken over the franchise from Bungie. Due holiday 2012.
  • Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - Remastered HD version of the original Xbox game with online co-op, seven multiplayer maps. Launches November 15, the game's 10-year anniversary.
  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - Supports Kinect gestures and voice to mod weapons and for actual gameplay (real pew pew pew at last!). All future Tom Clancy titles will leverage Kinect.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Ships November 8. Map packs launch first on Xbox 360
  • Ryse - Crytek's Kinect Roman first-person brawler features real headbutt attacks (minus the pain of impact, unless you misjudge the distance to your TV!).
  • Mass Effect 3 - Includes optional Kinect voice control.
  • Minecraft - Kinect title due this holiday.
  • Kinect Fun Labs - Free download, available today! Create an avatar that looks like you with feature capture including face, hair and clothing. Kinect finger tracking lets you draw on pictures in 3D, and you can scan in objects like stuffed animals. How long before our 8-year-old tries to scan the cats?! Also, how weird it must have been to be a tester on this (nudity blocker's gotta be in there, am I right?).
  • Kinect Disneyland Adventures - The California theme park with rides reimagined as Kinect body-tracking games such as Peter Pan's Flight and Alice in Wonderland. Don't be fooled, this won't save you on trips to the real park, it will convince your kids they need to go more often!
  • Fable: The Journey - Rail Fantasy shooter with Kinect controls. UPDATE: Not actually a rail shooter, it just looked like it from the demo. Peter Molyneux insists they just left the navigation interface off the E3 demo and that you'll be able to free roam in the game.
  • Forza Motorsport 4 - Lands October 11. Includes Kinect voice and head tracking and will receive monthly expansions.
  • Dance Central 2 - All songs from original Dance Central can be imported. Offers two-player side-by-side dance offs.
  • Kinect Star Wars - Voice control to turn "light saber on" seems dork. Game is an "on rails" saber battle but force powers look cool and well integrated.
  • Once Upon a Monster - Sesame Street Kinect game from Double Fine's Tim Schafer. You know, for kids.
  • Kinect Sports: Season 2 - Games include football (American), baseball, golf, darts, skiing and tennis.
  • Tomb Raider - Origin story, and a darker take on series due fall 2012.
  • The Sims 3 Pets - Due for holiday with Kinect voice control.
  • Xbox Live Arcade summer releases - Includes Bastion, From Dust, Fruit Ninja Kinect, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet and Toy Soldiers: Cold War.
  • EA Sports games get Kinect support - Includes Tiger Woods, Madden and FIFA.
