PS VitaSony quickly addressed the PlayStation Network outage, calling out third-party developers, retail partners and gamers while taking a shot at the press. "Without you, there is no PlayStation," said CEO Jack Tretton about its customers before moving on to announcements and game demos:

  • PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) - Formerly referred to as the PSP2 or Next Generation Portable, the official name is PS Vita. Includes multitouch with front and read touchpads, Sixaxis motion sensing, cross-game chat and front/rear cameras for augmented reality. Games such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss can be played with touch, analog sticks and/or tilt controls ("play the way you want"). Games available on both PS3 and Vita, like Ruin, may have cross-device play; you save to the cloud and resume your console game on the portable. "Near" feature lets you interact with nearby gamers with Vitas (similar to Nintendo Street Pass). Other Vita titles include: Gravity, Hot Shot Golf, Hustle Kings, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Ridge Racer, Street Fighter x Tekken, Super Stardust Delta and Wipeout 2048. Sony is partnering with AT&T exclusively for 3G version priced at $300; WiFi-only version will also be available for $250. Due holiday 2011.
  • PlayStation 3D TV - $500 24-inch television with 3D glasses and Resistance 3. Two people playing the same game can share the same fullscreen TV using 3D glasses to segment the view.
  • Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Launches November 1. New multiplayer game with beta kicking off June 28. You can win early access to full multiplayer game (not the beta) through Subway store promotion later this year.
  • Resistance 3 - Supports 3D and PlayStation Move. Launches September 6. Available in a Doomsday Edition bundle containing Move and sharpshooter gun controller for $150.
  • BioShock Infinite - Will support Move. Ken Levine said, "We're just getting our head around what that will mean." Levine hinted at some type of Vita support (not clear if it's Infinite integration or a separate game). Also, the original BioShock will be on the same disc with Infinite.
  • Dust 514 - Features Move, a dedicated PlayStation Home space, Vita support and cross-platform play with Eve Online. Closed beta is scheduled for end of 2011 with release in spring 2012.
  • God of War Origins Collection (PSP games) and Ico and Shadow of the Colossus - Remastered in HD and 3D, both due in September.
  • Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time - Due in 2012.
  • Battlefield 3 - Will include Battlefield 1943 on disc when it launches Oct. 25.
  • SSX Descent - PS3-exclusive Mt. Fiji course.
  • Need for Speed: The Run - Exclusive cars on PS3.
  • Star Trek - Move and 3D, due in 2012.
  • Saints Row The Third - Will have unspecified PS3 exclusive content.
  • NBA 2K12 - Includes Move support where you point and direct your players, sort of like a real-time strategy game. Game changer or soon-to-be failed experiment?
  • Medieval Moves - A light platform RPG for Move due this fall with throwing stars, archery, swords and more.
  • Infamous 2 - User-generated content due this fall.
  • LittleBigPlanet 2 - You'll be able to create levels with the Move (and play them with Move) when update hits this fall.
  • CinemaNow - Movie streaming service due later this year.

1.

I'm honestly surprised (and pleased) at the pricing on the Vita -- I fully expected it to be at least $50 more.
