I've heard good buzz for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I had to go over an hour just to cobble together something resembling 30 minutes of actual gameplay.
The prologue goes on forever with a combination of cutscenes and mild interactions with other characters as you prepare to set off on what is apparently a suicide mission. During the early part of the game, I got to explore combat with a couple of friendly duels. The first one was guided so I won easily, the second not so much. After about 50 minutes, I actually got control back and was able to begin the game proper, defeating a stone creature that's the combat equivalent of a sewer rat.
By the end of the run, I had a companion and got to explore party/turn-based fighting. So yeah, expect to invest a lot in this before it gets good - though the cutscenes were as lovely as they were sad:
