After visiting a few konbinis in real-life during our recent trip to Tokyo, I decided to try InKonbini: One Store, Many Stories for a taste of a Japanese convenience store from the other side - behind the counter. The game straddles the line between existential tone poem and mundane tasks and customer service. You touch people's lives, pull bread mistakenly stored in a refrigerator case to the proper shelf, find the right brand of cat food for a customer who hasn't heard of reading glasses, and make change (possibly in more ways than one).
I was a little apprehensive but found the first shift charming; I might just continue this part-time job:
