With the Fallout series going increasingly off the rails, Atomfall looked like it might scratch that itch so preinstalled it with Xbox Game Pass and jumped in Day 1.
So far it seems fine. There was a glitch where the sound dropped out so I rebooted the game a short way in to get it back. It wasn't clear that Takedown meant kill, so that was a surprise. And a bunker that looked like it connected to a tunnel I was seeking didn't seem to actually contain the way forward.
I did dabble in intentional combat, found the pneumatic tube system that stores items you don't have room to carry, and I found some caches with the metal detector. Not a bad start, but I'm not really feeling drawn in yet:
